The rules
Short and plain, so everyone can keep them. They are the rules the game shows when you type
/rules.
In the game (/rules)
Hytale's Community Guidelines apply here. Be kind: no harassment, hate, threats, or sharing anyone's private details. Play fair: no cheats, hacks or using bugs for gain (report a bug instead). Leave what is others' alone: no griefing, stealing from or trapping other players. No trading items, Gold or accounts for real money. Keep names and words fit for everyone. Moderators may warn, mute, kick or ban, and serious cases skip the steps.
The rules, one by one
- Hytale's Community Guidelines apply here. What they forbid is forbidden on Relic Realms too. Read them on Hytale's website.
- Be kind. No harassment, hate or threats. Never share anyone's private details, such as where they live, their phone number or their accounts elsewhere, and never ask anyone for theirs.
- Play fair. No cheats, hacks or using bugs for gain. If you find a bug, tell support instead.
- Leave what is others' alone. No griefing, stealing from or trapping other players.
- No real-money trading. Do not trade items, Gold or accounts for real money.
- Keep names and words fit for everyone. Relic Realms is rated Teen. Your name is your Hytale account's name: a name that breaks these rules can mean a ban until it is changed.
Chat
A filter checks every chat message before anyone else sees it. When it holds a message back, it tells you, and why.
- Mild words are fine.
- Strong language aimed at nobody is sent with the word masked. It is never punished.
- Insults or strong language aimed at another player are not sent. Keep doing it and you get a warning, then your chat is muted for a while.
- Slurs and hate, sexual messages, threats, and telling anyone to hurt themselves are never sent. Most also mute your chat, and a moderator looks at them.
- Personal details such as phone numbers, emails and addresses are never sent, yours or anyone's. Asking someone for theirs is not allowed either.
- Links are not allowed in chat.
- Too many messages too fast, or the same message again, are held back.
Talking about a hard time is never against the rules. If you say you are struggling, you are offered help, and a moderator is asked to check on you.
How the rules are enforced
The chat filter only holds messages back and mutes chat for a short time. It never kicks or bans anyone, and a moderator can lift its mutes.
Moderators may warn, mute, kick or ban. Each action comes with its reason and a case code, shown to you in the game.
The steps
- A warning.
- A mute, for hours.
- A ban for a set number of days.
- A permanent ban.
Serious cases can skip steps, where that is justified: credible threats, sharing someone's private details (doxxing), sexual harassment of a minor, hate, and cheating that harms other players.
If you think a decision about you was wrong, you can appeal it. To tell the moderators about someone else, see Report and appeal.
