Privacy at Relic Realms
Relic Realms is a Hytale server. This notice says what the server keeps about you when you play, why, for how long, who else sees it, and what you can ask for. We keep what the game needs and little else. We never sell anything about you, and we show you no advertising.
In short, as the game says it (/privacy)
Relic Realms keeps what the game needs, by your Hytale account's ID: your progress, Gold, Home, rewards and deeds, any purchases from the store, and any reports and moderation about you. The server's logs, which include your IP address, are deleted after 30 days, and your game records 24 months after your last visit. Nothing about you is sold. Your name is on the Hall's roll only if you choose.
To get a copy of your data, type /privacy access. To have it deleted, type
/privacy erase. We answer within a month. The full notice is below. If you cannot play,
write to privacy@playrelicrealms.com.
Who we are
Relic Realms is run by Marian Vladut Chiper, 19 Ardmore Avenue, Dublin D24 VHR4, Ireland, who
decides how your information is used (the "controller" in data protection law). For anything about your
privacy, write to privacy@playrelicrealms.com, or type /privacy in
the game.
What the server keeps, and why
When you join, Hytale tells the server who you are: your account's ID (a long code that never changes) and your username. The server keeps everything below under that ID.
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Your progress: the places you have reached, the great foes and deeds you have done, your level and experience, your title | To give you the game: your journey carries on where you left it | While you play, and 24 months after your last visit |
| Your Gold and what you bought and sold in the game (Gold is earned in play; nothing here costs real money) | The game's economy | As your progress |
| Rewards the game owes you or has given you (a record kept inside your Hytale player file) | So every reward reaches you once, even after a crash | As your progress |
| Your Home: the land you claimed, the friends you trust there, and the chests and trophies you left in it | Your land and who may use it | As your progress. After 24 months without a visit the Home is given up: its buildings stay in the world, but your ID and your friends are removed from it |
| What you dropped when you died, where and when | So you, and only you, can take it back | 24 hours after you take it back or it is lost. If you never come back for it, it goes with your other records |
| When you were last here | To welcome you back, tell you what changed while you were away, and apply the 24-month rule | As your progress |
| Your name on the Hall's roll of firsts, only if you choose to put it there when you are among the first to do a deed | To honour the first players, where every player can read it | For the life of the roll, or until you take it off (in your journal, any time) |
| Hytale's own player file: what you carry, where you are, your settings and statistics | Hytale's server software needs it to run the game | As your progress |
The server's logs: your IP address, your account ID and username when
you connect, the worlds you enter, the commands you type (such as /privacy) and the chat
messages you send |
To keep the server secure, find out what went wrong when something does, and look into a report | 30 days |
Whom you ignore, if you use /ignore |
So their chat and invitations do not reach you | As your progress |
| Moderation: reports you make or that are made about you, the warnings, mutes and bans you receive with their reasons, and the chat lines a case needs as evidence | To keep the community friendly and safe, and to enforce the rules | 12 months after the case closes or the sanction ends; a permanent ban is reviewed every year |
| The reward log: when a reward was confirmed delivered to your account | To answer you if you tell us a reward never arrived | 90 days |
| Your privacy requests: what you asked for, when, and when we answered | To show we answered | 24 months after the answer |
| Your purchases from the store, if you buy something: for each, the username given at the checkout, the product, Tebex's numbers for the payment, and its state (waiting, active, paused while a payment is disputed, refunded) with its dates | To put what you bought into the game on the right account, once, and to handle refunds and disputes | As long as the purchase, the product on your account and the law need it: it is not deleted after 24 months away. If you ask us to delete your data, the purchase's record stays with no link to you |
| The store log: what the store did (a purchase delivered, refunded or moved), with Tebex's transaction number and your account ID | To answer you about a purchase, and to find faults | 30 days |
What we do not keep
We do not keep your chat beyond the server's 30-day logs, except the lines a moderation case needs, and we do not keep your real name, your email address (unless you write to us), your age or your location beyond your IP address. Personal details typed in chat are never sent or kept. The server does not send crash reports or statistics to Hytale, and voice chat is off.
Chat is filtered automatically
A message that aims abusive words at another player, or holds a slur, sexual content, a threat, a link or personal details, is not sent, and you are told why. Repeated or serious ones mute your chat for a short time and go to a moderator, who can undo it. Nothing automatic bans anyone.
Gameplay statistics
The server can also record, per player, where players stop and how fights go, to balance the game. This is off. If we turn it on, we will change this notice first, keep those records 30 days (per-hit fight records 14), and let you ask to be left out.
Items keep their owner's ID
A bound reward, or goods you dropped, carry your account ID on the item for as long as the item exists, since that is what makes them yours. If an item is someone else's now, it is theirs to keep, even if you ask us to delete your data.
This website
This website has no accounts, forms, analytics, trackers, adverts or cookies. It is served by Cloudflare, which has to see your device's internet address to send you the pages and to keep attacks off the site. We keep no visitor logs of our own.
When you write to us
Mail to support@playrelicrealms.com, privacy@playrelicrealms.com or safety@playrelicrealms.com passes through Cloudflare, which forwards it to the operator's mailbox at Google. We keep your message and our answers for 24 months after the last message in the conversation, or longer only while a case, a dispute or a legal claim still needs them. If you write to ask about your privacy, the request itself is kept as described below.
Our Discord
If you join the Relic Realms Discord, Discord (Discord Inc.) runs it under its own privacy policy, and your account there is Discord's. What we keep from it, by your Discord ID: a support ticket for 24 months after we answered it; a report or appeal, and our moderation record, for 12 months after the case closes or the sanction ends (a permanent ban's record stays, and is reviewed every year); and Discord's automatic alerts to the moderators for 30 days, unless a case needs them. Discord's own moderation tools may also block a message or a name, as the rules say. Links, email addresses and phone numbers are blocked there and not kept.
Our reasons in law
- To give you the game you asked to play: your progress, Gold, rewards, Home, dropped goods and last visit (the performance of a contract, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR; for players under 18, our legitimate interest in running the game they chose, weighed with their interests first).
- To keep the server secure and fair: the server's logs and the reward log (our legitimate interests, Article 6(1)(f), weighed in written assessments; you may object).
- To keep the community safe: reports, the chat filter and moderation (our legitimate interests, and a legal obligation where the Digital Services Act applies).
- The roll of firsts: our legitimate interest in honouring the first players (Article 6(1)(f)), and only by your choice, which you can undo at any time.
- To deliver what you buy from the store, and to handle refunds and disputes: the contract (Article 6(1)(b)); for players under 18, our legitimate interest in delivering what was bought for them.
- To answer your privacy requests, and to keep a deletion done: the law requires it (Article 6(1)(c)).
Who else sees it
- Other players see your username and title in the game, in chat and in a party, whose Home they stand in, and your name on the roll if you chose to put it there. Your level is shown to your party.
- Hytale (Hypixel Studios) checks your login when you join. Hytale is responsible for your Hytale account under its own privacy policy. We send it nothing else.
- Our hosting company, netcup GmbH, in the European Union, runs the machine the server lives on, and Cloudflare R2, in the European Union keeps an encrypted copy of our weekly backup. They act only on our instructions, under contract (Article 28).
- Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc.) serves this website and forwards the mail you send us, under its data processing terms, and the operator's mailbox is at Google. Both are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which the EU recognises as protecting data sent to the United States.
- Discord runs our Discord server, as its own controller (above).
- Tebex (Tebex Limited, in the United Kingdom) sells the store's products and runs its checkout. What you give at the checkout, such as your name, email address and payment details, is Tebex's, under its own privacy policy. We receive only the username you gave, the product and Tebex's numbers for the payment, and we tell Tebex nothing about your play. The United Kingdom is covered by the EU's adequacy decision (until December 2031), so no other safeguard is needed.
- Nobody else. Nothing about you is sold, shared for advertising, or used to build a profile of you.
Everything the game server keeps stays in the European Economic Area. The store's checkout is Tebex's, in the United Kingdom; this website, our mail and our Discord go through Cloudflare, Google and Discord, in the United States, as described above.
Backups
The server is backed up every night: 7 nightly copies and 4 weekly ones, and the latest weekly one is also kept elsewhere, encrypted. So a copy of what the server held is gone within about nine weeks. If we ever have to restore a backup, everyone we deleted since it was made is deleted again before the server starts.
What you can ask for
- A copy of what the server keeps about you, in a file you can keep or take elsewhere (access and portability).
- A correction: your username is Hytale's; your title and Home you change in the game; tell us about anything else.
- Deletion of what the server keeps about you. It is done within a month. Log lines naming you expire on their own within 30 days (the reward log within 90), and the backups within about nine weeks.
- To object, for instance to the logs we keep for security, and to have your name off the roll (in your journal).
- To restrict what we do with your data while a question about it is settled.
How to ask: type /privacy access (a copy) or /privacy erase
(deletion) in the game. You are shown a short code. Your game session shows it is you, so we need nothing
more. For a copy, write to privacy@playrelicrealms.com with that code, from the
address the copy should go to. If you cannot play, write to us all the same and we will find a safe way to
confirm it is you, without asking for identity documents where we can avoid it.
We answer within a month, free of charge (two months more for a hard case, and then we tell you why within the first month). The server tells you in the game when your request has been answered.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission, Ireland: www.dataprotection.ie.
Younger players
Relic Realms is rated Teen, and we expect some players to be young. The server keeps the same small amount about everyone, and everything is private unless you choose otherwise: we do not ask your age, we do not build profiles, we send no marketing, and your name goes on the roll only if you put it there. Hytale sets the accounts of younger players in Europe to high privacy by default, and those settings are its own. There is also a version of this notice for younger players.
Keeping it safe
Only the operator can reach the server's files and backups, through keys or two-factor sign-in. The logs are short and the copy kept elsewhere is encrypted. If something ever goes wrong with your data, we tell the Data Protection Commission within 72 hours where the law requires it, and we tell you when the risk to you is high.
Changes to this notice
When this notice changes, the date below changes too, and the server says so in the game, with what changed.
In effect from 30 September 2026.
For younger players
What Relic Realms keeps about you
- When you join, Hytale tells us your account's number and your username. We use them to save your game.
- We keep your journey, your Gold, your Home and your rewards, so you can carry on where you stopped.
- The server writes a diary of who joined and when, with the internet address of your computer. It keeps that diary for 30 days only, to keep the server safe.
- The diary also has what you type in chat, for 30 days. If someone reports you, or you break the chat rules, a moderator keeps the lines that matter with the report for a year. We don't ask your age, your real name or where you live, and chat never lets anyone share them.
- If you are one of the first to beat a great foe, we ask if you want your name on the Hall's roll. It's your choice, and you can take it off whenever you like.
How long
- If you stop playing for two years, we delete your game. Your Home's buildings stay, but not your name.
Who sees it
- Other players see your username, your title and whose Home is whose, like in any game.
- If you buy something from the store (a parent or guardian buys for you if you are under 16), Tebex takes the payment. We only get your username and what was bought, so we can put it in your game.
- Our Discord belongs to Discord, and you need to be old enough to use Discord where you live. If you open a ticket there, we keep it for two years at most, and never your personal details.
- This website keeps nothing about you: no cookies and no trackers.
- Nobody else. We never sell anything about you, and there are no adverts.
What you can do
- Type
/privacy accessto get a copy of what we keep about you, or/privacy eraseto have it deleted. - If something worries you, talk to a parent or someone you trust, and they can write to us at privacy@playrelicrealms.com.
